Screws are used by many of the industries and processes serviced by Avweld. Typical uses are for transporting, de-watering, drying and separating. All these processes involve wear and/or corrosion to some extent. When the wear and corrosion is at the high end of the scale, the need to extend the life of these screws becomes a critical consideration in the operation of the process. Using a variety of Superior Surfacing Solutions™ Avweld can fully refurbish and significantly extend the life of almost any configuration of screw on the market from small process screws for the plastics industry to very large de-watering screws for the paper industry. Some of the many screws we have successfully repaired are:
- Plug screws (and matching housings) for the MDF Industry using tungsten carbide PTA
deposits applied by our fully automatic robotic welding system for the optimum in life extension
- Separator screws (Alfa Laval type) using welded tungsten carbide deposits or weld-on tungsten
carbide tiles - Extruder screws and components for the Brick and Tile Industry using robotically applied
tungsten carbide - Thune type de-watering screws for the Pulp and Paper Industry with application of a large
variety of wear resistant coatings to prevent a combination of corrosion and erosion/abrasion - Transport screws/Conveyor screws for many different types of applications such as woodchip,
pulp, coal, gravel, many mining processes etc.
